I grew up in Illinois, raised by an undertaker and an interior designer turned stay-at-home mom to support me and my three siblings. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be an astronaut, but one summer before high school, I spent a week working in the government-subsidized housing community in my town. I was shocked to see the condition of the buildings these people lived in. I knew it didn't have to be that way. Fast forward 24 hours, I decided I was going to be an architect and haven't looked back since. Here we are 9 years, living, working and playing in St. Louis, MO with a M.Arch degree.
Don't worry, I never left my dreams of space behind, I am also the proud owner an acre of land on the moon where I plan to visit as soon as I am able.
Over the past few years, opportunities to serve others through design have presented themselves. I have been able to travel to Honduras to help open the first center of inclusion through Schools for Children of the World. I have also been involved with Formm, a non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and building in international communities that need it most. Both of these endeavors have proved to me that when you design a venue for it, change can happen. It has been surreal to have these experiences before I am 25 when I thought they would not happen until I was 50.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, traveling, and eating out, but I also have a side-gig as a couch potato who binge watches entire season of shows in a single sitting.
I also enjoy dwelling on the fact that when I was younger I never had pencils with my name engraved on it.
